Kingsley named 2014 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Rookie of the Year

Exclusive Autosport driver Jeffrey Kingsley captured Rookie of the Year (ROTY) honours at the season finale of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship September 13 and 14 at the BEMC Indian Summer Races at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.  Kinglsey, a Canadian Karting standout, pulled double duty this year as he raced a full season of karts as well as a full season of open-wheel with the North American Spectrum factory team.

Kingsley finished the championship in 5th position with a total of 594 points, edging out fellow Ontario competitor Reid Arnold by a mere 8 points.  During his 2014 campaign the 16 year old up and coming open-wheel star from Port Hope, Ontario collected 2 podiums, 5 top five and 8 top ten finishes in the ten Toyo Tires F1600 Championship races he entered. Kingsley’s success in Canadian F1600 racing this season earned him a Team Canada scholarship nomination.

“Winning the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Rookie of the Year honours is something that I am very proud of. I felt that for my rookie year we showed good pace with a few podiums here and there.  Also being third in the championship was a huge confidence boost for me, but unfortunate after missing the Calabogie event I got shuffled to 6th. I truly think that next year we will definitely be battling for the lead and hopefully winning the championship. This success would not be possible without the hard work by Michael Duncalfe, Kimberly Duncalfe, Remi Lanteigne, and the rest of the amazing crew at Exclusive Autosport. Also I would like to say thanks to Spectrum Race Cars, Honda Performance Development, Sparco, Whitby Toyota/Scion, and the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series. Without all of them this season would not have been possible!” said Kingsley.

Not only has Kingsley had an amazing F1600 rookie season, but he has continued to find success on the Canadian karting circuit.  Sponsored by Nintendo Canada and Mario Kart 8, Kingsley was a special guest at the Canadian launch of Mario Kart 8 and Wii U at Mario’s Canadian Karting Day.  He won the Canadian National Championship in Rotax DD2 in August at Circuit Mont Tremblant, Quebec and will be going to the World Finals in Spain later this year.  In addition he is currently leading the ECKC (Eastern Canadian Karting Championship) points standings with one race remaining in the 2014 championship.

Michael Duncalfe, Exclusive Autosport team owner is thrilled with Jeff’s performance and development as a driver the past six months.

“It is truly a pleasure to work with Jeffrey  He is a very talented driver with a lot of dedication and focus to becoming a success in open wheel racing.  Everyone on the team is extremely proud he was able to capture the Rookie of the Year honours in such a competitive field this year.  There is no doubt in my mind that Jeffrey will be a championship contender in 2015!”

Kingsley will return to on track action next weekend at the Circuit Mont Tremblant Fall Classic in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.  He is currently leading the Formula Tour 1600 Rookie of the Year Championship
